Searching the Clallam County Court Docket
Start with the court level. Felonies, major civil claims, family law, probate, guardianship, adoption, juvenile matters, mental-health cases, and judgments all belong to Clallam County Superior Court. Those dockets live in Odyssey Portal. The Washington Case Search tool covers District Court instead, handling misdemeanors, traffic tickets, small claims, protection matters, and limited civil cases. Searching by case number gives the cleanest result. A party name works too. Just know the exact spelling on the filing.
- Identify Superior Court, District Court I, or District Court II.
- Select Clallam and the correct case type in the official portal.
- Search by case number or party name and narrow by year.
- Match the caption, court, file date, and case category.
- Read the latest events and hearings, then ask the custodian for a filed or certified document.
Not sure which court holds the file? Clallam County's case or name search page sends Superior Court users to Odyssey, while Washington Case Search can pin down the right court before you make a direct record request.
Clallam Court Map Comes First
Clallam County Superior Court holds countywide general jurisdiction. District Court I covers the central and eastern county, including Port Angeles and Sequim. District Court II is the West End court in Forks. Its territory stretches across Neah Bay, Clallam Bay, Sekiu, and LaPush. Neither District Court is a branch of Superior Court. Each one keeps its own docket and case files. A citation from city police does not mean a city-run portal exists. County and city sources route Port Angeles and Sequim limited-jurisdiction work to District Court I, and Forks work to District Court II. Tribal court cases sit in separate sovereign systems. Federal cases from Clallam County use federal PACER. The state court docket does not hold them, and the Western District of Washington site places Clallam County in its Tacoma Division.

That federal venue stands apart from Clallam Superior and District Court, so its records run on the federal docket system. For charges, the official PACER pricing page lays out what federal docket access and documents cost.

PACER only reaches federal cases. It will not replace Odyssey or Washington Case Search when the case belongs to a Clallam County state court.
Quick route: Felony, major civil, family, probate, and Superior appeals go to Superior Court. Misdemeanor, traffic, small claims, and limited civil work go to District I or II.
Inside a Clallam County Court Docket
A docket, sometimes called a register of actions, is the chronological index of everything the court has done in a case. It proves an event was recorded. It may not show the full paper behind the entry. A seal may protect some details too. Odyssey splits the record into tabs for Case Information, Party, Disposition Events, Events, and Hearings. The statewide index often gives a shorter synopsis.
| Case number | The court identifier and any SCOMIS or JIS cross-reference, such as 24-1-00097-05. |
|---|---|
| Case identity | File date, court location, case type, caption, status, and judicial officer where public. |
| Parties | Public party roles and attorney information; protected identifiers are omitted. |
| Events | Filings, motions, notices, service, orders, continuances, and other recorded steps. |
| Hearings | Date, time, courtroom, judge or commissioner, and hearing type. |
| Disposition | Recorded outcome, judgment, sentence, dismissal, satisfaction, appeal, or later action. |
A motion entry is a request, not a ruling, and a scheduled hearing is not proof it happened. Check the later entry. Get the signed order when the exact outcome matters.
Clallam Odyssey Search Controls
Odyssey Smart Search takes a case number or a name typed Last, First Middle. Pick Clallam as the location. Advanced filters trim the results by search type, case type, status, date, or judicial officer. Public users clear the robot check and hit Submit.
| Control | Requirement | Use |
|---|---|---|
| Smart Search query | Required | Case number or filed party name |
| Court location | Optional filter | Select Clallam instead of all Superior Courts |
| Search type | Optional | Party, business, attorney, officer, case, or cross-reference |
| File date and status | Optional | Narrow a large result set |
| Sounds Like | Optional | Search uncertain spelling, but not with a wildcard |
| Submit | Action | Runs the query after the robot check |
Expect a cap of 200 results. That cap comes from the official guide. A trailing asterisk widens a partial search, subject to minimum character rules. Hyphenated names may need a second pass. Try it without the dash. Once the case opens, its event tabs supply the public Clallam County court docket detail.
Courts That Keep Dockets in Clallam County
The right court decides the database, the clerk, and the copy process. Remember that an appeal can create a new case number, so search both.
| Court | Docket covers | Where to search |
|---|---|---|
| Clallam County Superior Court | Felony, major civil, family, probate, guardianship, juvenile, and lower-court appeals | Odyssey, then County Clerk |
| District Court I | Central/eastern misdemeanors, traffic, civil to $100,000, and small claims | State Case Search, Find My Court Date, then District I |
| District Court II | West End limited-jurisdiction cases | State tools, then District II in Forks |
| Washington Court of Appeals Division II | Ordinary appeals from Clallam Superior Court | State appellate case search |
District civil authority reaches $100,000 per claimant. The source is RCW 3.66.020. Small claims top out at $10,000 for a natural person. Another claimant is capped at $5,000. Subject matter can still place a case in Superior Court.
Clallam District Dockets Compared
District Court I makes its home in Port Angeles. Its address is Suite 10, 223 E. 4th Street. Call 360-417-2560 or email web_dc1@clallamcountywa.gov. District Court II is at 502 E. Division Street, Forks. Its phone is 360-374-6383. For District II requests, the county public-record page lists administrator Mark Downing at mark.downing@clallamcountywa.gov. Both courts hear the same case categories, but geography controls which door you use. District I reported more than 7,401 cases for 2024. The total includes 5,179 traffic infractions, 687 criminal misdemeanors, 1,033 civil cases, and 84 small claims. District II's 2023 West End figures total 1,082 cases. Those totals are courtwide, not city-only counts. Need statewide context on limited-jurisdiction workloads? The Washington Courts district and municipal annual report is the official source.

That report supports court-to-court comparisons. The local District I and District II figures explain the two Clallam routes. One caution: District I's published copy fees should not be assumed for District II. Ask the Forks court before sending payment.
How to Find Court Dates and Settings
Clallam County spreads court dates across several channels. Odyssey offers a Hearings view and a Search Hearings tile for Superior Court. The county calendar page posts next-business-day Superior categories. Find My Court Date taps the real-time District and Municipal Court database. Court staff give the final direct check. Calendars can change through the day. They are usually finalized by 5:00 p.m. for the next business day. Friday civil and criminal motion calendars need phone confirmation, and judicial assignments rotate. Read the newest event. An old date may have been reset or continued. District Court traffic continuances must be sought in writing or in person, never by phone, so the method matters as much as the contact number.
Clallam Calendar Labels Decoded
The calendar names carry real clues. Superior Courtroom 1 usually carries civil work, while Courtroom 2 handles criminal matters. Courtroom 3 hosts settlement conferences and non-family protection orders. Juvenile Services posts category blocks like Truancy, Youth at Risk and CHINS, Dependency, Juvenile Drug Court, and Juvenile Offender or Ex Parte.
- Setting
- A scheduled court event, not necessarily a trial.
- Continuance
- An event moved to a new date.
- Register of actions
- The chronological history of docketed case events.
- Disposition
- The recorded outcome of a case, charge, or claim.
- Ex Parte
- A calendar for specified requests; the Clerk lists daily hearings at 1:00 p.m. with an 11:00 a.m. filing deadline.
A label on the public juvenile calendar opens no child's case file. It just describes how the Clallam court operates, while privacy rules continue to govern the record itself.
Public Access to Court Dockets
Clallam dockets answer to Washington court rules, not the county's usual administrative-record process. Openness is the default, though statutes, court rules, and standing orders still shield certain records and identifiers.
Key Rules:
General Rule 31 sets public access to court records and limits juvenile information on public websites.
General Rule 15 governs sealing, destruction, and redaction.
General Rule 22 gives family and guardianship records added safeguards.
RCW 13.50.050 controls juvenile offender record access and confidentiality outside the official file.
A public caption is not a green light. Sealed cases, restricted documents, juvenile data, and protected family, financial, medical, or identifying details may all be missing from the file behind a Clallam docket entry. When something is closed off, ask the court about authorized access or a redacted copy.
Clallam Docket Versus Court File
Three different products get tangled together. The docket is only the index of events. Behind each entry sits a filed document, such as a complaint, petition, motion, order, judgment, or plea. A certified copy is different again. The clerk prepares it, applies the official seal, and signs it as a deputy clerk. Anonymous Odyssey access shows case information but not document images.
For Superior Court documents, search first. Then email Web_Clerk@ClallamCountyWA.gov with the case name, number, and the exact document you need. Suite 9 accepts in-person requests, and mail works too. Plain paper and electronic Superior copies run $0.50 per page. Certification adds $5 for the first page plus $1 for each extra page. Certified, authenticated, and exemplified copies cannot be purchased electronically.
Docket Records at the Clerk's Office
One office anchors most Clallam Superior recordkeeping. The Clallam County Clerk of Superior Court holds felony, civil, domestic, probate and guardianship, parentage and adoption, juvenile, judgment, and Superior appeal records. The office also manages exhibits, court financial records, legal financial obligations, jury work, and court orders. District Court administrators keep the lower-court records separately.

A transcript matches neither the docket nor the case file. A court reporter or certified transcriptionist prepares this verbatim account of what was said. District Court I separately lists a $10 hearing CD, so ask the right office for whichever product you actually need.
Clallam Courthouse Record Campus
Clallam County's courthouse carries real history. The official courthouse page documents the building, erected in 1914 and 1915 after an earlier wood-frame structure burned from the record.

That historic building shares the Port Angeles campus with the later Courthouse and Corrections Center. The Superior Clerk and District Court I occupy separate suites there. The Superior Court page lists current court contacts and how document requests are handled.

The same campus now runs Odyssey, OnBase document management, and eFileWA. Older Clallam records, though, may still live in paper, microfilm, or legacy systems.
Clallam Docket Scale and Systems
Washington's 2025 report counts 2,946 new Clallam Superior filings. Those span criminal, civil, domestic, probate and guardianship, adoption and parentage, mental illness, and juvenile categories. A separate report lists 9,695 proceedings. The gap matters. A single filed case can generate many docket events and hearings.
Clallam County's therapeutic courts page names Drug Court and L.I.F.T. Court on the local calendar.

Those program labels usually ride on top of an underlying case docket. They do not create a separate public file or settle any outcome. The systems themselves are shifting too. District Court I announced mandatory e-filing through eFile and Serve beginning July 1, 2026. Limited-jurisdiction courts are migrating to the new CLJ case system. As they do, re:SearchWA serves as the statewide public destination. Filing tools are not public docket viewers. Clallam data may go missing during migration. If that happens, fall back on Case Search, Find My Court Date, and direct contact with the court.
Clallam County Court Dockets by City
Clallam County counts three incorporated cities. That is why there are three city routes here, not padded pages for unincorporated or tribal communities. Each city page points to the county court that actually keeps its local docket.
Port Angeles Docket Search
Use District Court I for city misdemeanors, traffic, small claims, and limited civil matters. Use Superior Court for felonies and general-jurisdiction cases.
Sequim Docket Search
Official city contacts route local court users to District Court I rather than a separate Sequim public municipal portal.
Forks Docket Search
District Court II is the local West End docket center at 502 E. Division Street in Forks.
The 2020 Census put Port Angeles at 19,960 residents. Sequim counted 8,024, and Forks 3,335. These figures define the official city set only, not each city's share of docket volume.
Clallam Search Fallbacks
Neither portal may give a solid match. If so, double-check the spelling, court level, case type, and filing year. Closed or archived records may need a clerk search. Call the likely court with the caption and case number. Then name the exact document you want. If the court confirms a public terminal exists, it may add useful index context. Search results can lag or throw an error. For any current setting or disposition, direct confirmation from the court controls.
